A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of capturing Londoners Cat and Gary during their Fiji Elopement at the Royal Davui Resort. In the wake of Cyclone Pam the weather was always going to be sketchy but on this particular day the clouds were pushed back as Fiji put on a Spectacular show of unbelievable brilliance.

Here’s how it all evolved through their eyes:

Once we had decided to elope, we sat down and wrote a list of things we wanted: Sun, white sand, clear blue sea, intimacy, fun, stress free wedding. Fiji ticked all the boxes absolute paradise! It’s the dream location and the Royal Davui Island Resort is postcard material!

We took a gamble with having our wedding in the Summer of Fiji, it’s also the wettest season. On the morning of the big day we woke up, drew back the curtains and it was grey, cloudy and windy, the weatherman said to expect rain (followed by a cyclone!) However, by lunch, the clouds cleared revealing the bluest sky and the scorching sun, it was such a relief that the weather held out for us. Eloping was one of the hardest decisions, however, we were really able to enjoy the whole day, as we only had to focus on each other. The day was simple and fuss free. We absolutely don’t regret our decision.

My most favourite moment of the day was Seeing the shock on Gary’s face when I interrupted the celebrant during the ceremony, to give my own little speech, priceless!
The Kama’s made our wedding day fun and stress free, with loads of jokes and banter, so the time flew by. Their creativity, improvisation and flair really shows in their work. Lying on paddle boards, flippers and snorkel masks, GENIUS!
When we got back to our villa, we just sat back, totally relaxed, cracked open a bottle of Champagne and it was at that moment that the realisation of what we had just done hit us, “WE GOT HITCHED!”

Our parting advice to couples looking to tie the knot would be to Elope! To go to Fiji! And to Pick the Kama’s to capture your day!

We’d like to send out our sincere thanks to the following people for their contributions towards making our elopement in Fiji such a pleasant experience: To Neomai the wedding coordinator at The Royal Davui, for being so spectacular. Neomai made the wedding as easy and stress free as could be. So much so, it didn’t even feel like I was getting married until people arrived to fuss over me. Everything was planned for us, we didn’t have to worry about anything and that’s how we believe your big day should be.

To Clint and Edward from Silver Strand for pampering me and making me feel like a princess. They were so calming and warm throughout, they really put my nerves at ease.

And of course the Kama’s, you guys are awesome!
