Warwick Wedding Fiji – Courtney & Paul – A Decade in the Making

Our love story was a decade in the making and so we figured that if we were going to have a wedding, we wanted to have everyone who had been on the journey with us together for a holiday at the same time. Fiji was the perfect tropical location for everyone to be able to relax and unwind for a few days either side of the wedding, and allowed everyone to get to know each other and be comfortable by the time our wedding day rolled around.

We wanted the day to be fuss free and fun. We woke up together the morning of our wedding & noticed it was overcast, but hearing that rain on your wedding day was good luck we tried to stay positive and spent a couple of hours together before going our separate ways. It was a lovely way to centre ourselves before the event. The boys spent most of the day lazing by the pool while the girls got ready, and right before the ceremony, we got our bridal party & parents together to give them the gifts we’d had made for them. It was our little way of saying thank you to each of them for getting us to that point!

As we learned is the case with most things in Fiji, the weather, having looked less than ideal all day, cleared up with perfect timing right before Courtney was to walk down the aisle. Fiji time is a real thing but everything works out in the end! After a slight hiccup involving missing rings, we were made husband and wife and cheered back down the aisle. The day was everything we had hoped and more.

What were you’re favorite moment/s of the wedding day: When Courtney walked in on her dad’s arm, everyone started cheering and clapping, which really set the mood for the whole day. Also listening to our beautiful friend Kate Heart sing while we signed the register was incredibly special.

Is there any advice you’d like to give future brides in preparation for their big day: Prepare as much as you can before the day but once you get to Fiji relax! Fiji time is real and it will be the best thing that ever happened to you (once you get there!)
